Greenwood, Joseph Brigade Major (b. ABT 1816, d. 1861)
Note: Joseph served in the 31st Foot from ~1836 till ~1846, when he went onto the half pay list with the rank of Captain.
Emigrated with his wife, Catharine Sabina(?) (onboard Minerva) with his son Colin.
Major Joseph Greenwood was a New Zealand politician. He served in the first and second New Zealand Parliaments, representing the 'Pensionerrom Parliament on 3 August 1857, around half-way through its second term. He also served on the Auckland Provincial Council. Greenwood owned extensive properties in what is now Manukau, and built a house there in 1852.

Greenwood Road: off Ascot. Major Joseph Greenwood owned the Ascot estate. In 1937 it was 3/4 of a mile plus 80 yards long, with 13 residences and likely named around 1887.
