Note: The information that we have is that after Edwin Ernest Thripp died in England in around 1919-1920, Tryphena immigrated to Australia, sailing on the 'SS Ballarat'. Tryphena had a lot of money, either from an inheritance possibly from Edwin, and her uncle or cousin a 'Reverend John Greenwood' kept the money in England for her as he was the executor of the will and was to forward it on to her once she was established.

Tryphena was to disembark in South Africa but they would not let her off the ship as her or some of the kids were unwell, so she was made to travel on to Fremantle in Western Australia. Once getting off the ship Tryphena had all of her luggage stolen from her. She was given 10 pound as travellers aid and told to go onto Melbourne, Victoria, Australia where she would get more help from charity organisations. Which she did. She lived the rest of her life in Melbourne.

The 'Reverend John Greenwood' never forwarded any money to her and she was forced to send two of her children off to various parts of Victoria to gain employment to help with the family income.
