King, Thomas Henry Robert (b. 28 FEB 1909, d. NOV 1950)
Note: Thomas King served during WW2 in the Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry 5th Battalion. War was declared 3rd Sep 1939 and he recieved his call up papers on 27th Dec 1939. His daughter remembers crying when she heard on boxing day that he was going to France.

5th Battalion - Territorial Army.

Landed in Normandy on 23rd June 1944 and within three days was engaged in fierce fighting. Among their many heroic actions the Battle on Hill 112 (later called Cornwall Hill) stands out, as does their gallant dash to the Nederrijn a few months later to the relief of the Airborne Forces in September 1944 trapped at Arnhem.

After a winter of hard fighting the 5th Battalion crossed the Rhine on 26th March 1945 and reached the river Elbe at the head of the hostilities
Battle Honours gained by the 5th Battalion in North West Europe.
Cheux, Hill 112, Mont Pincon, Noireau Crossing. Nederrriijn, Orpheusden, Geilenkirchen, Rhineland, Goch, Rhine.

Occupation
Prior to going off to war he worked for British Drug House (BDH) as a Counter Hand helping to dispence prescriptions to the public and also in the warehouse.

After the war he worked for Express Daries in the Warehouse. He would bring home boxes of cake from there on a Saturday.
